This page contains descriptions and links to proects from my coursework in various class. In several instances, this work has been designed to be used in the classes that I teach.

Graphic Design

Ebook

This interactive ebook explains the concept of free and open source textbooks. It was a final project for the Research in Instructional Design course.

While the project was completed in collaboration with two team members, I created the original design and layout, wrote copy for several sections and made final edits for the whole team. I used Adobe Indesign and Photoshop for this project.

Handout

This is an informational handout I created using Adobe Indesign. Two classmates contributed 5 of the sections, I wrote 3, and edited the final product.

Multimedia Design Project-Elearning Unit

This site is a multimedia project designed to guide 7th grade language arts students through the process of breaking down an essay prompt and planning for the writing task. The site contains four forms of media: Audio, Video, Graphics, and Hypertext.

The site will be used as a tool to create a flipped classroom setting in which students work through the site and do the assignment independently in learning centers before receiving feedback with the instructor in a teacher-lead station.

Graphics Layout Project

Graphics Media Layout Project first pageIn this project, I used the principles of design and the use of visuals to narrate a presentation on how to answer a writing prompt. Powerpoint, Photoshop, and Nearpod were tools used in the creation of this project.

The resulting video is integrated in the review page of the multimedia website.

Audio Project

June 13, 2016

The clip is used in the multimedia web project and gives instructions on how to use the website and complete the assignments. This audio component will be useful for ESE students and other students who have a preference for aural over written instructions.

Course Development Project

This was a unit of instruction I developed with three other classmates over the course of the Spring 2016 semester. We were given instructional materials created by previous group from another semester (The skills analysis, learner context, the instructional treatment plan, and the flowchart). From these materials, we developed a small representative unit of instruction that could be evaluated in the next phase of the ADDIE model.

The purpose of the unit is to familiarize soldiers at basic training with the procedure for firing a gun before they go to the firing range. It is not intended to replace face to face instruction.

ADDIE Projects

ADDIE Model. Two courses in the instructional design program detailed the phases of the ADDIE model. Working in groups, we chose a topic and produced an analysis of skills, goals, and learners.

Next, we designed the instruction creating a detailed instructional treatment plan, storyboard, and flowchart.

In another course, we revised instruction according to multimedia design principals and web accessibility guidelines. We implemented our redesign by actually creating a unit of instruction. Finally, we conducted a formative evaluation of the unit of instruction and produced a report of our results.
