Instructional Design & Technology Core

These courses provide a base of knowledge for the instructional design field, theories, and processes.

EME 6613 Instructional Systems Design*: Introduction to the systematic analysis and design of instruction.

EME 6062 Research in Instructional Technology*: Critical review and evaluation of landmark research in the areas of educational media, ID, and IS.

EME 6055 Current Trends in Instructional Technology*: Survey of current trends and issues of importantce to the field of IT.

EDF 6401 Statistics for Educational Data: Analysis and interpretation for the design of educational evaluation.


Instructional Systems Track

These courses provide a deeper understanding of

EME 6226 Instructional Development and Evaluation*
: Basic instructional development skills and formative and summative evaluation methods for training and education.

EME 6607 Planned Change in Instructional Technology*: In-depth study of the processes of planned change and adoption/rejection of innovations in educational settings.

EME 6507 Multimedia for Education and Training*: Elements and applications of multimedia and technology in multiple settings.

EME 6705 Administration of Instructional Systems: Parameters, problems, and areas of importance in the management of instructional systems.


Elective Choices

Coming from an elementay education background, I selected these courses for electives to 1) fill my knowledge gap with adult learning theory, and 2) add to my knowledge of multimedia use and gaming to enhance educational resources.

IDS 6504 Adult Learning: An examination of theory and research on adult learning.

EME 6614 Instructional Game Design in Training and Education: Integration of instructional design and game development processes.

EME 6209 Multimedia for Instructional Systems II: Advanced techniques in delivery and management of web-based multimedia instructional content.


Additional Requirements

EME 6946 Practicum/Internship: Independent learning activities that take place in authentic settings in which students must apply, reflect on, and refine knowledge and skills acquired in the program.

Comprehensive Exams: A set of summative essay questions that are customized for your individual plan of study.
