Welcome my website dedicated to incorporating operational adaptability into training. The purpose of this site is to introduce the various concepts of operational adaptability to leaders, soldiers, and trainers. As the US matures the topic of operational adaptability, knowledge of the base subject will help soldiers incorporate this concept into their training. Please look around my site to learn more about operational adaptability.
Per TRADOC PAM 525-3-0, the Army Capstone Concept (ACC), “operational adaptability requires a mindset based on flexibility of thought calling for leaders at all levels who are comfortable with collaborative planning and decentralized execution, have a tolerance for ambiguity, and possess the ability and willingness to make rapid adjustments according to the situation”. The purpose of the ACC is to describe the broad capabilities the Army will require in the upcoming years from 2016-2028. Operational adaptability is a central idea within the ACC for both training units and leaders.
The U.S. Army recently published a white paper exploring the concept of the human dimension as a subset of operational adaptability. The official definition of the human dimension is “maximized individual and team performance through identification, development, and optimal integration of human capabilities”.
Based on the description and importance in the future of the U.S. Army, simulations are best suited to facilitate operational adaptability and the human dimension in training.
To further understand the concept of operational adaptability, this website explores tenets needed for incorporation into the 8 step training model to support U.S. Army training.
