Stop paying full price
start saving money
When you are just starting out, couponing can be a little intimidating. You might think the process involves a lot of prep - having to cut and/or print a bunch of paper coupons, research deals, study your store's weekly ads, etc. In 2023, however, the process has gotten a lot simpler! To save money on groceries and household items, all you need is your phone. Below you will find some tips on getting started.
1. Start small - download one store app and one rebate app.
2. Stack weekly sales with store coupons, manufacturer coupons, and rebates.
3. Always check to make sure an item qualifies for the sale or coupon within the store/rebate app. Many apps allow you to scan items to check
4. Watch for expiration dates and when sales or offers end.
5. Rebates may disappear, double check your cash back offers in the app before buying an item.
6. "Clip" or save your digital coupons and offers so that they come off at checkout.
7. Save your receipts for two weeks - rebates come and go all the time!
8. Roll over giftcards and cash rewards on future deals to lower your out of pocket costs.
9. Buy things you need, will use, or can donate (if you choose). Don't waste time and money on items that you'll never use.
10. If the deals aren't working at checkout like you thought they would, don't be afraid to walk away or put items back.
11. Always be kind to your retail employees and cashiers!
12. Learn the lingo! One of the most difficult part of couponing is understanding all the acronyms and lingo. Click here for a Coupon Lingo cheat sheet, adapted from The Couponing Couple.
