ONSET-RIME & ALLITERATION
Onset-Rime is the isolation of the begining sound of a word from the subsequent middle and ending sound combination, or rime. Blending /c/ with /at/ to make "cat" for instance. It can also be practiced by taking the beginning sound off of the word, such as reducing "hit" to "it".
Alliteration is the repetion of a beginning sound in multiple words, such as what you would hear in a tongue twister such as "Peter Piper". This skill also involves the identification words that either do or do not follow a pattern of the same beginning sound.
