Ebay is large and there are many things to learn as you experience being a "seller". Here are a few "Tips and Tricks" To Make Your Selling Experience Easier.
*Offer Free Shipping on Your Listings!* Adjust the price of your item to accomodate shipping fees, ebay fees and the money you want to pocket on the item. This process takes a bit of trial and error! Here is a Podcast that we have created on Pricing Your Items:
*Be honest with the condition of your product (even if used and slightly damaged).* Honesty in your listings are key to avoiding upset customers and keeps them coming back to you as a seller.
*Take GOOD Pictures!* You don't need a DSLR camera to do this. Most smartphones offer higher-quality cameras to take photos. Be sure to take photos of all-sides of the items!
*Download the Ebay App for your smartphone (if you have one).* This is invaluable for monitiring listings on the go and uploading photos to your listings!
*Utilize "Flat-Rate" Shipping On Heavier/Larger Items* Everyone loves to save money and shipping items on ebay can get costly! By using the "Flat Rate" postage on larger and heavier items, the customer gets the benefit of expedited shipping and you get the benefit of savings!
*Utilize Postal Service Packing Materials or Free Boxes from your local stores* In addition to "shipping fees", Tape, Boxes and Bubble Mailers can get pricey! To cut costs, use the FedEx, UPS or USPS free packing items! They can even be mailed to your house for free!
If you want to use "Media Mail" or Standard Shipping, you can obtain free boxes from your local retail stores. Just ask a team member or customer service associate!
*Be Sure to Provide Feedback for Your Customers!* Ebay sellers (and buyers) get their reputation through he feedback system. You will notice that next to your username there will be a colored star and a number. These correspond with the number of transactions/feedback comments you have recieved. If you continually get 4 or 5 stars, you will become a "Top Rated Seller" and obtain special discounts on shipping and higher shipping limits (if you choose to continue to sell on ebay).
*Use PayPal For Your Financial Transactions* For your financial transactions, be sure to configure PayPal as your payment method for your listings! Paypal offers seller protection in case the customer tries to "pull a fast one" and file a bogus claim about not recieving an item that they actually recieved.
