Determine the Vertex

In order to determine the vertex, we must first find the middle of the parabola, also known as the axis of symmetry.

Step 1

To find the axis of symmetry, use the formula: x = -b/2a. This will give you the x-value of the vertex (the line of symmetry).

Step 2

Now that we have the x-value of the vertex, we simply plug the x-value into the original equation y=ax^2+bx+c in order to find the corresponding y-value.
