I
have taught college English at UCF, Valencia, and
Northern Virginia Community College as well as working as a freelance
textbook editor and reviewer. After graduating from Valencia Community
College, I attended the University of Central Florida, earning a
bachelor's degree in English Language Arts Education and a master's in
English with an emphasis in Technical Writing. While working on my
master's degree, I worked as a textbook editor and I have continued to
review
college textbooks even today.
I also taught
Technical Writing courses part-time at UCF and then
accepted a position teaching English at Valencia Community College.
Additionally, I
studied the teaching and drama of
Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre in London on an English Speaking Union
scholarship in 2005. The same year, I participated in a teacher's
summer workshop
on Shakespeare at Rollins' College. I also spent a year teaching
English at Northern Virginia Community College. However, Orlando and
its warm weather is home!
I have taught
on the East, West, and Winter Park campuses of Valencia Community
College as well as online courses for all campuses. I love working
with college students and developing their writing and reading skills.
Preferred Method
of Contact/Communication: Course email is my preferred
method of contact. I am normally online every day and respond to my
course email with 24 hours of submission except weekends.
For discussion
topics, I will usually have feedback or responses, if necessary, to you
within 72 hours of submission.
For assignments
and examinations, I will usually have feedback or
grades back to you within one week after the deadline or "closing date"
If you prefer that I call you, just leave your phone number, along with
the best time to call in the evening, on the course email and I will
return your call within 24-48 hours. If you have questions, you may
also choose to post them in the "ask your instructor" thread for my
response.
Best wishes and
cheers! I look forward to seeing you online!
