- Justification for Imperialism was "White Man's Burden" or the need to civlize those who were seen as uncivil or inferior to Americans
- Annexation of Alaska and Hawaii for resources and competition
- Spanish American War over the territories of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. "Splendid Little War" was a great American success
- Panama Canal greatly expanded world trade by decreasing costs and increasing profits
