What is a bat?

Bats are small mammals of the order Chiroptera. They have adapted forelimbs webbed with a thin skin membrane to create wings, and they are the only mammal capable of true flight.

Why are bats important?

Bats are important players in the ecosystem. All of the bats in Florida are insectivores- meaning that they eat only insects. This helps keep local pest populations in check.
